I've known Barry my entire life...our families were very good friends, went to church together, one of his sisters and I were in the same class...good guy (and family for that matter)!

it has nothing to do with screwing southwest va. people. it has everything to do with seating. va. high's gym is a perfect venue for a state game especially with 3 schools being represented on saturday.

Thatd been perfect for GC a game in Johnson City. I figured they had moved the game to Thompson Bolling by now.

Re: GC's games have been moved

GC does have the right to pick the venue being Region D Champs. However, by requesting their boys/girls State games to be played in the same location means 3 schools fans will be seated in the same gym like last weekend. This created a major cluster jam at Castlewood H.S. I attended those 2 games last Saturday at CHS and the place was packed. It is a nice gym but looked like it had exceeded its capacity. For 2 games, the bleachers became very uncomfortable as you could not get up to move around, and the parking was unacceptable for games of this magnitude. CHS parking is virtually one way in/out parking and did not have anyone assisting with traffic after the game. It took me 25 minutes to leave off the hill. As much as I hate to admit it, I think it is a great move for all fans atending these 2 upcoming games. The VHS gym has individual seating and multiple parking areas. I'd say playing a doubleheader and the situation from last week is probably what contributed greatly to this move. The CHS gym is very nice, but the place proved to me last week it is not very appropriate. Has any VHSL H.S. ever been allowed to play a State doubleheader? Sounds like GC is lucky to be allowed. Good luck to both Devils boys and girls teams, keep rolling to the BIG HOUSE at Richmond!!! I can't imagine having any of these problems there, ha ha!

So Floyd and Radford will bring in more fans than homestanding Castlewood, Twin Valley, and Burton did on Friday? Or more than CW, and Kelly Saturday?

If people tink that parking is bad at Castlewood. Wait til they get to Va high, With the new track there is very limited parking and now if you park on the street you WILL get towed. I wonder if GW gets to bring their on stripes. They had their own ref in the State semi football game last time.

1. There is 3 parking lots at VHS to my knowledge...one right at the school and in front. A student parking lot and another behind the school at the track. Way more parking then at Castlewood IMO.

2. To my knowledge, you can't park on the streets during school hours. Meaning you can park on the street during non-school hours.

3. You will not be towed unless you have something blocked as always, anywhere you go

When Oak Hill played there this year after the VHS girls and boys played, the gym was packed from what I heard and saw on the news later that night. VHS hosted 3 games that night back to back to back!
There will be plenty of parking. You may have to walk a little bit but it will not take you 20-30 minutes to get out like it did last weekend at CW. That was horrible, from the time I left the gym to my house it took me almost and hour and a half for a 35 mile drive!

It will be better for everyone LITERALLY from ever point of view!

Ok, first of all George Wythe lost and then they go and complain to VHSL that they cant drive that far. Even if the seating was the case Castlewood has more seating than VA High anyway. I believe 2 years ago Twin Springs played George Wythe at Castlewood and there no complaints. This is rediculous on VHSL's part because Gate City earned the right to choose Castlewood, George Wythe lost.

Re: GC's games have been moved

Is there any true proof that GW has made the complaint or is everyone jumping to conclusions?
